I designed the festival branding, posters, tickets, advertisements, and merchandise while serving on the organizing committee. I helped plan and execute the full production of the annual event, which brought together over 650 students, faculty, and local attendees.
Key highlights:
🞗 Developed cohesive visual identity across print and digital assets
🞗 Managed event collateral from concept to production
🞗 Collaborated closely with committee to ensure all creative aligned with festival goals
Sketches:
Working closely with other designers, we merged our styles and brainstormed until we landed on a cohesive design. Weekly meetings kept ideas flowing and progress on track. We used reference images to clarify our vision, ultimately incorporating elements of a detailed cathedral gate and a portal-like doorway into the final design.
Challenges & Learning:
Our process typically involved brainstorming, researching references, and sketching multiple ideas before selecting a final design to complete in Illustrator. Occasionally, deadlines would change on short notice, requiring quick turnaround and long hours to ensure projects were delivered on time. At times, I encountered techniques I hadn’t mastered yet, which pushed me to teach myself new skills. Through these experiences, I became more efficient in Adobe Illustrator and gained the ability to create graphics for a wide variety of products.
Looking Back:
This experience taught me the importance of clear communication across departments, designing with the audience in mind, and engaging directly with attendees. Working on the Reel Loud Film Festival took me beyond the computer, giving me hands-on insight into audience needs and collaboration in a live event setting.
